Why Microsoft use “Windows” to Name their OS ??

–>Every user who loves to use computer has used the Microsoft windows. The first OS called as Windows 1.o which was released on 1985. Billions of people’s uses it now.

–>Ever thought why Bill Gate use “windows” to name their OS , why not anything else then windows ?

–>Reason behind using the name “windows” is that the operating system has several displays screens in different windows.We know that early computers like DOS had the command line-styled interface and user needs to enter commands to operate the computer

–>The Apple Mac was only GUI based system and was just 2 years old enjoying their commercial success

–>There was a need of graphical desktop computers at that time and Xerox started to use one of the first adopters of the Windows,Menu, Icons, and pointing device on a desktop metaphor.

–>The GUI lets users operate various programs in the multi-window format and at the same time, it promoted Multitasking and many other functionalities in OS.

–>Xerox was the company who featured the earliest GUI that was controlled using mouse. But Xerox failed to make it reach the users.Microsoft was inspired by the Xerox GUI and made the first GUI based OS and named it as windows 1.o

–>Officially it was called as Microsoft Windows because we can’t trademark a common word like Windows. Later on, Microsoft also use that to name their other products like Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel etc.
